At Premier Tutoring Group, we are dedicated to providing tailored educational support to footballers and their families. We appreciate the challenges of balancing life in professional football with education, due to frequent relocations and irregular schedules.

Introducing Jacob & Maisie

“We understand firsthand how last-minute moving in football can be, all of the frequent relocations - it all happens really suddenly, often with little time to prepare.”

Maisie Brown

Co-founder and Secondary English Tutor

‘ The focus is usually on the player, but the impact on their families is not always fully appreciated, we knew we wanted to help others in the same situation.

  • I completed my English Language degree in 2019, before attaining my Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in 2020. After gaining my PGCE in Secondary English, I began teaching English to students aged 11-16, guiding them through KS3 and preparing them for their GCSEs in both English Language and English Literature. For four years, I was a dedicated English teacher, passionate about supporting my students’ academic success.

However, an opportunity arose in Jacob’s career which meant that we faced a challenge we hadn’t encountered before: relocating to a completely new area with little notice. Moving three hours away to Luton meant finding a new home in an unfamiliar place, leaving behind a job I loved and adjusting to an entirely new way of life. Suddenly, we were navigating everything from settling into a new community to meeting teammates, staff and making new friends, all while I transitioned to becoming a self-employed English tutor.

This experience opened our eyes to the difficulties that footballers and their families face, often suddenly and with little time to prepare. In football, the focus is usually on the player, but the impact on their families is not always fully appreciated and the disruption to childrens’ education, personal lives and career stability can be overwhelming. After making the move and realising how strenuous it has been for our family, we knew we wanted to help others in the same situation. Therefore, Premier Tutoring Group aims to ensure that every player, parent and child receives the support, continuity and expertise they need to achieve their academic and personal goals, no matter where football takes them.

Co-Founder and Professional Footballer

‘ My experience has given me valuable insight into the challenges of moving clubs, adapting to new environments, and transitioning between loan and permanent transfers.’

  • I began my journey in professional football at the age of 8 when I signed with Sheffield Wednesday. After my release at 14, I spent several years outside the professional academy system, balancing my studies at college while playing for Guiseley. In 2016, I was offered a scholarship with Barnsley, where I completed my BTEC in Sport alongside my football commitments. Later that year, I signed my first professional contract, marking the beginning of my senior career.

Over the years, I have played in all four of England’s top leagues, representing four different clubs, as well as at international level. This experience has given me valuable insight into the challenges of moving clubs, adapting to new environments, and transitioning between loan and permanent transfers.

While football has been a central part of my life, I am committed to continuous personal and professional development beyond the pitch. I’m currently learning Spanish, studying psychology through the PFA and I am enrolled in the upcoming MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology at Staffordshire University. I also gained my Certificate in Player Care in 2024, which furthered my knowledge of the support that players often require and allows us to offer a truly holistic support system that helps families settle, adapt and succeed wherever football takes them. With this first-hand experience of life in professional football, Premier Tutoring Group has been created with the understanding of the challenges both players and their families face.

Delivering personalised tutoring that allows students to excel academically and develop lifelong skills is paramount.
